mooSocial 2.6.1 Release

Published on May 24, 2017

Hello!

This minor release addresses some issues that were reported by clients in mooCommunity and also that our staffs found during testing plugins. We’ve also included some minor improvements to current features.

Improvements Made:

1. Added mulitple profile types options: Profile types allows you to have different sets of Profile Questions depending on which Profile Type is chosen upon signup. One example of a situation where this would be useful is if you had a network for “Fan” and “Musicians”. “Fans” might have a “First Name” and a “Last Name” but you might want “Musicians” to fill out a “Band/Artist Name” instead.
2. Added “force login” option into all core modules…

Introducing EasyArticles

Published on May 25, 2017

We have been trying to refine the process of authoring in Joomla from a day to day basis and one of the most painful process is editing articles on the front end with proper workflows. Although the ACL in Joomla is pretty robust, it’s still isn’t suitable for a day to day authoring and publishing process.

EasyArticles approach is to introduce article management and minimalist user interface right on the front end. It will be suitable for blogs, news, or any other content generation that requires a more robust workflow, beautiful composing interface and awesome features. We have combined a decade worth of experience from when we were working with EasyBlog and we were trying to revolutionize the way articles are created.
How EasyArticles Came About

Initially, it started off as an idea for EasyBlog to store it’s data into Joomla Articles. As we were working on that, we realize that there were just too many features in EasyBlog that don’t exist in the…

Paid Access demo version

Published on May 25, 2017

We are glad to inform you that Ning is planning the launch of a new Paid Access feature in the very near future.

Judging by your comments and feedback, this function is long-awaited. We’ve been refining the feature for some time and hope its performance will be more than optimal.

We anticipate your great interest in the new tool. We will be more than happy to release it as soon as possible. We are adding the finishing strokes to beta version of a product, and we need your help in polishing it to perfection.

We are looking for the creators who aspire to help Ning and the whole community of creators to achieve better results with their networks due to new high-profile features like Paid Access.

We’d greatly appreciate if any of our creators would announce their desire to become volunteers ready to test a pilot version in operation BEFORE it hits the market. You are highly welcome to submit your feedback with the evaluation of both positive and negative performance characteristics displayed by a new tool.

Our deep gratitude (in more tangible form) will go to the network creators who agree to participate in the beta testing. We’ll specify the details later on…

JomSocial 4.4 Development Preview: Access Control List Is Live

Published on May 26, 2017

Today i am excited to give you a development preview from one of the most anticipated feature and the one that took us many months to develop.

It all started with Joomla 1.6 when Access Control List (ACL for short) is implemented in Joomla! We were excited for this new option that allows site admins to set up granular accessing permissions to any part of the site, but our excitement faded fast when we discovered ACL implementation is not backward compatible with Joomla 1.5 components at all. That means, extensions created for Joomla 1.5 had to be massively updated, code reworked, and database restructured to support ACL.

Years passed, there was a Joomla! 2.5 and then came Joomla! 3, but JomSocial was nowhere near having the proper ACL implementation.

UNTIL TODAY

Starting with JomSocial 4.4 an access to JomSocial features will be managed through Joomla Access Control List…
